The ASA National Championships will be played June 20-21 weekend. Below are some details.
If your stay will be longer than the weekend of Subbuteo, here’s some info on attractions and things to do while in the area:
- Down the street from the venue is Great Waves waterpark
- A bit of Civil War history is very closeby at Ft. Ward
- Gadsby’s Tavern and the Carlyle House are wonderful sites for Alexandria/US history
- Mt. Vernon as well, if course:)
- great local places to eat–that I know are consistently good–include Atlantis (diner food), Pork Barell (barbeque), Holy Cow (burgers), Del Ray Pizza (pizza parlor food)…
Transportation is fantastic, the venue is 10 minutes walk to the nearby Eisenhower Avenue metro station which has trains directly to Alexandria and DC to the north. See… wmata.com
Travelers staying at the venue and using DCA (Reagan National Airport) can take the Metrorail subway from the airport to the venue via the Eisenhower Avenue Metrorail station:)
Other transportation–
- DMV bus service: wmata.com
- Virginia bus service: dashbus.com
- Free DC/Arlington bus service: Dccirculator.com
- Free trolley in Old Town Alexandria: dashbus.com/Trolley
- Free Fairfax bus service: fairfaxconnector.com
As a reminder, the venue is the Courtyard Marriott on Eisenhower Avenue…and I also recommend Springhill Suites, it is nearby (only a 5 minute walk) and very nice accommodations…I also want to add Comfort Suites on Van Dorn Street, those staying here will get a ride to the venue (from me or another host:)…
