Christian Filippella excelled in this debut event of traditional Subbuteo at the FISTF World Cup. He achieved his second podium in a row across two World Cups by finishing in third place. His effort was of diligence and class. Christian’s success for the USA has been magnificent. He competed in the semi final losing to the eventual winner from Italy, Morgan Croce (as seen in the photo below).
Two other Americans took part: Peter Alegi and Bryan Arnold. Peter played well and progressed out of his group; he ultimately lost in the knockout round but showed great spirit to compete and overcome at every turn. Bryan lost his three matches but showed progress in maintaining sufficient defense against offensive onslaughts from experienced players.
FISTF made history in creating this first ever World Cup for traditional rules Subbuteo. A unique spirit of competition, and also nostalgia was evident throughout this debut event.
